Browser Extension Privacy

Last updated: 23 June 2026

This notice covers the RUNSHOEINDEX browser extension. It supplements our main Privacy Policy, which governs the website and your account. The extension lets you submit a running shoe deal you have found on a retailer site to RUNSHOEINDEX for community review.

What the extension reads

  • The current tab's URL, when you click the toolbar icon, to identify the retailer and prefill the deal link. The icon colour also reflects whether the active tab is a supported retailer.
  • Product details on the open page (title, price, RRP, colour, available sizes), read once when you open the popup, to prefill the submission form. This runs only on the page you are actively viewing.

The extension does not read your browsing history, track the pages you visit, or run in the background on sites you are not submitting from.

What the extension sends

Only the deal you explicitly submit (link, title, price, and the optional fields you fill in) is sent to our API at api.runshoeindex.com. Submissions are reviewed by our team before they are published.

What the extension stores

Your RUNSHOEINDEX sign-in session is stored locally in the browser's extension storage so you stay signed in. You log in once on runshoeindex.com and the website passes the session to the extension; there is no separate password. This session never leaves your device except to authenticate your requests to our API. Signing out, or removing the extension, clears it.

What we do not do

  • We do not sell or share extension data with third parties.
  • We do not collect browsing history, keystrokes, or personal communications.
  • We do not use extension data for advertising or unrelated purposes.

Your rights and contact

Your UK GDPR rights, our lawful bases, and data retention are described in the main Privacy Policy. Questions about the extension? Email hello@runshoeindex.com.
