The Terrex Agravic Speed is adidas at its most stripped back on the trail: a lightweight trail racing shoe built to move fast over shorter, sharper terrain. At 240g it sits firmly in the fast-and-low camp, and there is no carbon plate here, so what you get is a direct, ground-feel-forward ride rather than a propulsive rocker. That is the point. This is a running shoe for runners who want to feel the trail and react to it, not float above it. The 8mm drop keeps you in a familiar, slightly heel-biased position that most road converts will get on with straight away. We rate it as a proper trail race and tempo tool: skyrunning, shorter ultras, hard hill efforts and race-day on technical ground. If you want more shoe underfoot for long days, the roomier Terrex Agravic Speed Ultra is the natural step up. For fast trail work, this one earns its keep.
The Agravic Speed fits true to size for most runners, with a performance-trail last that hugs the midfoot and locks the heel firmly. This is a race-oriented fit, so the toe box is secure rather than roomy. You get enough space to splay on descents, but wide-footed runners or anyone who sizes up for long ultras may find it snug after several hours. For shorter, faster efforts that closeness is exactly what you want, because it stops the foot sliding around on off-camber ground. We would order your normal running shoe size and only go up a half if you know you swell badly on long days or prefer a relaxed fit. The lockdown through the midfoot is one of the shoe's strengths, so most people will not need to fuss with lacing. If you want a more forgiving, foot-shaped trail fit, Salomon's S/Lab Genesis runs a touch more accommodating.
The ride is quick, connected and honest. With no plate and a fairly low, firm platform, the Agravic Speed rewards a light, active footstrike and gives you real feedback on what is under your feet. Hold a fast pace on runnable trail and it comes alive. It rolls willingly and lets you place each step with precision on rocks and roots, where a taller, softer shoe would feel vague. Slow it right down on a long grind and you will notice the firmness more, because there is not a big slab of foam to hide behind. That is the trade-off of a shoe this light and this direct. For its intended job of trail racing and hard tempo efforts, the ride is exactly what a fast runner wants.
Cushioning is on the firmer, lower side, tuned for responsiveness rather than plush comfort. There is enough underfoot to take the sting out of rocky ground at speed, but this is not a max-cushion shoe and does not pretend to be. You feel the trail, which is a feature for racing and a limitation for easy miles. Over shorter and mid distances the protection is well judged: enough to keep your legs fresh for a hard hour or two, without adding weight or dulling the feel. Push into long ultra territory and heavier runners in particular may want more foam beneath them. For fast, focused efforts, the cushioning does its job and gets out of the way.
This is a neutral trail shoe, so there are no medial posts or corrective elements, and it is not the pick if you need built-in support. What it does offer is stability of a different kind: a low platform and a snug, locked-in fit that keep your foot planted and confident on uneven ground. Sitting closer to the trail means less leverage to roll an ankle, and the secure upper stops your foot shifting inside the shoe on technical descents. Neutral runners will find it sure-footed and precise where it counts. If you actively need pronation control, this is not the shoe, and a stability road model with a trail-ready outsole would serve you better.

The upper is built for racing: thin, breathable and closely wrapped to the foot for a secure, low-fuss hold. There is minimal excess material, which keeps weight down and helps the shoe drain and dry quickly if you hit water or wet grass. That race focus means it is snug rather than cosseting, and you notice the structure more than you would in a padded daily trainer. Most runners will find the lockdown reassuring on fast, technical ground. If you prefer a plush, forgiving upper for long slow days, this leaner build will feel more businesslike than comfy, which is the right call for a shoe aimed at speed.
