Our verdict
The Mizuno Neo Vista is a plated super trainer, a big-cushion running shoe with a plate inside that wants to do a bit of everything. It is Mizuno's answer to the do-it-all trainer that can handle easy miles on Monday and a tempo session on Thursday without you swapping shoes. At 265g it is not the lightest in the class, and the 8mm drop keeps it grounded and stable rather than tippy. What you get is a smooth, rolling ride with plenty of foam underfoot and just enough pop from the plate to make faster running feel worthwhile. It is not a carbon marathon racer and it does not pretend to be. Think of it as one shoe for a busy training week: comfortable enough for long runs, lively enough for strides and progression efforts. At an RRP of 180 pounds it sits at the premium end, so we rate it best for runners who want a single versatile trainer rather than a quiver. In our view it is one of Mizuno's most likeable road shoes in years.

Fit & sizing
The Neo Vista fits true to size for most runners, so order your usual Mizuno or road-shoe size. The midfoot wraps securely without pinching and the heel hold is firm, which suits the shoe's do-everything brief. The toe box is a touch more generous than older Mizuno trainers, leaving room for toes to splay on longer efforts, though it is not a wide fit and runners who need volume may find it snug over the bunion. If you are between sizes or plan to use these mainly for long runs, sizing up a half is a safe call to allow for foot swelling late in a session. The upper needs little breaking in and locks the foot down well through corners and faster reps. If you want a genuinely roomy forefoot for daily miles, the softer Wave Rider 29 is worth a look alongside it.
Performance breakdown
Ride & feel
The ride is the Neo Vista's calling card. It rolls. There is a smooth forward transition from heel to toe that makes cruising feel effortless, and the plate adds a gentle snap when you lift the pace rather than a harsh, race-day slap. At easy pace it is calm and cushioned, the kind of feel that lets you switch off on a long run. Push into tempo and it firms up underfoot and gives back more than you expect from a trainer this cushioned. It is not explosively fast, and heavier or more powerful runners will notice it is not a pure speed tool. But for the vast majority chasing one shoe that flatters both slow and quick days, the balance here is genuinely good.
Cushioning
There is a lot of foam under the Neo Vista and it leans soft without turning to mush. On easy days that means real comfort and protection, and your legs will thank you late in a long run when a firmer trainer would be beating you up. The plate keeps the stack feeling organised rather than wobbly, so the softness never turns vague. It is protective enough for marathon-distance training and forgiving on tired legs the morning after a hard session. If your priority is the softest possible landing with no interest in pace, a dedicated max-cushion shoe like the Wave Sky 9 will pillow more, but you would give up the Neo Vista's versatility to get it.
Stability
This is a neutral shoe, so it offers no medial post or dedicated pronation control. That said, the 8mm drop, the wide platform and the plate give it more inherent stability than a lot of soft super trainers. The foot sits reasonably locked over the midsole and the ride does not feel tippy at easy pace, which is reassuring given how much stack is underfoot. Mild overpronators who do not need firm correction should get on with it fine. If you rely on structured support to hold your gait together over distance, this is not the shoe for you and a true stability trainer would serve you better.
Upper & comfort
The upper is comfortable and fuss-free. It holds the foot securely through the midfoot and heel without hot spots, and there is enough give across the forefoot for the foot to move naturally on longer runs. Breathability is respectable for a shoe with this much material, so summer miles do not turn into a sauna. The tongue and collar are padded just enough to lock the ankle without feeling bulky. It is the sort of upper you stop noticing after the first few minutes, which is exactly what you want from a trainer meant to cover a lot of different runs.
