Our verdict
Nike built the Pegasus Premium around bounce, and on that one point reviewers agree it delivers. The full-length Air Zoom unit in its triple-layer midsole gives a springy, trampoline-like ride that most testers enjoyed. The trouble is everything around it. At 308g it's heavy for a super trainer, the fit is narrow, and several reviewers found the tall platform unstable. RunRepeat rated it great and another tester would tell you to try it, but Doctors of Running were far harsher, and one of their testers couldn't run in it at all because the tapered toe box pressed on the big toe.
At £190 RRP that is a lot of compromise. We see it as a fun shoe for easy and steady runs if you're a neutral runner with narrow to medium feet, not a versatile super trainer. If you want Nike bounce in a lighter package, the Zoom Fly 6 is easier to live with, and the Vomero 18 makes more sense for plain easy mileage.
Key features
- Full-length Air Zoom unitGives the ride its springy, trampoline-like feel, especially under the forefoot.
- Triple-layer midsoleStacks plenty of cushioning under you for steady and easy runs.
- 10mm dropTakes some load off your calves, though the heel itself can feel clunky if you land hard on it.
- Knit upperKeeps your feet cool and feels comfortable from the first step.
Who it suits
Who should buy it
- Neutral runners with narrow to medium feet who want a bouncy easy-run shoe
- Forefoot and midfoot strikers who will feel the springy front end
- Runners who value a fun ride on steady runs over low weight
Who should not buy it
- You have wide feet or a bunion, as the toe box is tapered and there's no wide option
- You want one shoe for tempo runs and sessions, since the weight shows at pace
- You overpronate or need a stable base late in long runs
- You're a heavy heel striker, because the heel can feel clunky

Fit & sizing
Width is the issue here, more than length. One review found it narrow and a little short and noted it only comes in a standard width. Another flagged a narrow midfoot and a tapered toe box, and one of its testers had to stop wearing it because of pressure on the inside of the big toe. A third tester found it narrow but not restrictive.
If you have wide feet or a bunion, this probably isn't your shoe whatever size you choose. With narrow to medium feet, your usual size should work, and half a size up is sensible if you're between sizes.
Performance breakdown
Ride & feel
The bounce is real and reviewers liked it, particularly through the forefoot. One review felt it suits runners who land further forward, because the heel lacks a bevel and can feel clunky if you land on it. The weight shows up once you speed up: one review found it bottom-heavy at faster efforts, and another's testers kept it for daily and base runs rather than sessions. One of them did say it felt lighter on the run than the scale suggests.
Cushioning
There's plenty of it, and the ride is bouncy rather than mushy. One review describes it as slightly firm but responsive. It'll protect your legs on steady runs, but so will lighter, cheaper shoes.
Stability
The platform is high and narrow, and reviewers from all three outlets we read said it felt unstable at times. It's a neutral shoe with no support features, so if you overpronate or your form fades late in a long run, pick something wider and steadier.
Upper & comfort
The knit upper gets good marks for breathability and step-in comfort, and one tester called it Nike's best upper yet. One review saw poor toe-box durability in its testing, and noted a noisy ride.
